The RCMSC officers and fleet captains met at the Hall Street Grill in Beaverton at noon on 1/13/16.
Present: Ted Van Syckel (Commodore and DF65 Fleet Capt.), Tren Haselton (Vice Commodore), Stan McKay (Sec/Treas.), and Stanley Townsend (Micro Magic Fleet Captain)
Absent: Gary Pietka (T-37 Fleet Captain)
BYLAWS:
The bylaws posted online need to be updated with changes approved at the last annual meeting to include:
3.4 Two or more sailboats of another fleet may race as a separate fleet.
Membership fees increase:
4.1a $20.00 per year for Adult Membership
4.1b $7.50 per year for Junior Membership
4.1c $25.00 per year for Family Membership
6.4 Terms: RCMSC Officers shall be elected for a term of two years.
There was a discussion to clarify the status of RG65 class boats racing. RG65s may race with DF65s, but would not be scored with them.
Stan proposed that 6.5 be changed to require two weeks’ notice for meetings of officers and fleet captains, instead of one month. This would be on the annual meeting agenda.
MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION
Stanley will update the online form with new fees. Our current account balance is $544.77, so no further increases are needed at this time.
SAILING SCHEDULE
Stan’s draft was accepted with a few changes. All venues are Tualatin, except 7/24 and 8/14 at Westmoreland. Ted will change several more racing dates to fun sails, and designate dates that will be scored as a series. Stanley will include a brief note explain where to find more information about series competition.
RACE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
We agreed that all racing boats should be class legal and carry a sail number. Penalty turns are not always taken promptly after a foul. (This could be a topic at the next annual meeting.) Recording finishes can be improved by designating a fleet member not racing who will start the timer and record the scores. This should be done before any class starts a race.
CLUB SEASONAL RACE SERIES
A race series of 5 races or 5 dates would replace a club championship. Ted volunteered to work on the details. DF65, T-37, and possibly MM classes would participate. Perpetual and small keeper trophies would be awarded in each class. A simple scoring procedure is needed.
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting will be held on March 13 at 5:00 pm at the Hayden’s Lakeside Grill in Tualatin following a tune-up sail. The agenda will include election of officers and fleet captains. The new slate will include Commodore and Vice Commodore for two-year terms, and all three fleet captains. Stan will continue serving his second year. Stanley will continue serving as webmaster.
OTHER
Stan will investigate club liability insurance, order more racing rule guides, and request a permit from the City of Tualatin.
Stan handed out the current member list.
Respectfully submitted,
Stan McKay
